Ahmadinejad Endorses Obama

In a stunning development, Ahmadinejad endorsed Obama this week. As the Boston Globe reported on Wednesday:

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad weighed in on the US presidential election today, noting that only one of the candidates supports restoring diplomatic contact with Iran. In response to a question from an American student about whether he supports Democratic nominee Barack Obama or Republican John McCain, Ahmadinejad did not explicitly name Obama but said: “The American government 28 years ago decided on its own to cut its ties with Iran . . .We do prefer to have relations, whereas one of the candidates in this election would prefer that.”

Are you kidding me? Obama has now been endorsed by Ahmadinejad, Hamas and Farrakhan. Obviously, Obama cannot control who endorses him. Nevertheless, the fact that the world's most prominent Jew haters prefer Obama is certainly indicative of whether Obama will be "good for the Jews."

How can this willful blindness of American Jews be explained? I know there is a long history of Jewish identification with the Democratic Party, but that argument proves too much. After all, Reagan received nearly 40% of the Jewish vote in 1980. Fast forward to 2008 and McCain -- an extremely pro-Israel candidate -- cannot dream of getting 40% of the Jewish vote. Incredibly, Jews support Obama, the candidate who favors unconditional negotiations with Ahmadinejad, a Holocaust-denier who has openly stated his intention to "wipe Israel off the map." And don't even get me started on Obama's mentor, Reverend Wright.

In all seriousness, what's going on here?

Your problem, and the problem of people like you, is that you think Ahmadinejad hates jews because he hates the state of Israel. Jews live and thrive in Iran. Ahmadinejad has no problem with Jews: It's Zionists he dislikes. If you don't know the difference, look it up.

Cheers.

"When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You are talking anti-Semitism."

You know who said that? Martin Luther King.

Also, did you actually listen to Ahmadinejad's speech at the UN? He said that "deceitful Zionists" controlled the international monetary system and global media. It's the same "Jews have too much money/Jews control the media" canard.

It's Hitler all over again. Remember, Hitler too promoted certain Jews in Germany so as to "prove" to the world that he treated Germany's Jews well. One Jew was even chosen by Hitler to compete on behalf of Germany in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helene_Mayer

As to your suggestion that Iranian Jews are "thriving" in Iran -- boy, have you been propagandized. I personally know several Iranian Jews who fled Iran. They certainly do not "thrive" there. More like, live in a constant state of fear.

I'm sorry, but this is just silly.

And if you actually want to analyze this (which is also silly), then don't you think that Ahmadinejad is smart enough to understand whether an "endorsement" will help or hurt Obama. Given that, shouldn't we make a different assumption about who he wants to win.

So, according to your logic, Farrakhan endorsed Obama because he knows it will backfire and secretly prefers McCain? You can't possibly believe that.

Nor is it credible that Ahmadinejad is secretly rooting for McCain. Look, it's obvious why Iran wants Obama. Obama is another weak, America-loathing "internationalist" -- in the mold of Jimmy Carter. And the mullahs owe everything to Carter. Obama has offered Ahmadinejad unconditional talks, whereas McCain cracks jokes about, "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran."

It is not a mystery why Iran wants Obama. The only mystery is why do the Jews.
